Could Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) Be Getting Her Own NCIS Spinoff?
CSI begat two smash spin-offs, so why not another NCIS? Though CBS has no current plans to launch a third Naval team, the hugely popular Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) will headline a Mexican adventure during May sweeps. The Abby action begins May 4, when the goth lab rat meets a handsome stranger named Alejandro Rivera (seaQuest DSV’s Marco Sanchez), a Mexican justice-department official in D.C. on state business. “Abby thinks he’s really cute,” says Pauley.
Then on May 11, Alejandro invites Abby down to Mexico to speak to forensic students—which provides Vance (Rocky Carroll) with a golden opportunity. “Vance decides to take a peek into Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) file to learn about his past,” teases Rocky. What he discovers provokes him to send Abby’s ex, Agent McGee (Sean Murray), south of the border with her for protection. But, Rocky adds, “Vance has an ulterior motive.” Not surprisingly, McGee is bothered by Abby’s new crush. “Abby and McGee still love each other very much and if there’s ever another guy around, he’s threatened,” says Pauley. Even so, the former lovers end up sharing a bed in a Mexican motel, which Pauley says, “is awkward, especially for McGee.” (In typical NCIS style, we won’t know what exactly happens once the lights go off.) But the big Mexico mystery involves a bag of evidence (containing shattered glass, grass and soil samples) that Abby brings back to D.C. The contents lead to a confrontation with Gibbs in the May 18 episode, which also reveals the murder of a former agent we haven’t seen in some time. “It sends shock waves,” Rocky says. “We try to put a stop to it before it happens again.” Confused by all these twists? “You’ll see why all these things are important,” says Pauley, hinting at a bombshell in the May 25 season finale that sends Gibbs to Mexico and forever changes Abby’s life. “Pay attention to everything! I just hope Abby survives emotionally.” http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/kecks...xico-4819.html |

...that CBS would love to schedule an "Abby" series.....but Pauley Perrette doesn't have enough "star power" as yet to headline her own show. As a "supporting player", she's wonderful. But to spin her off now would "stretch the soup" too much [I saw her guest appearance on "NCIS: LOS ANGELES" earlier this season, yet it wasn't satifsying enough]- the same as when the network tried to give "ENOS", Boss Hogg's deputy on "THE DUKES OF HAZZARD", his own series in 1980; that lasted one season. That was a case of "too much, too soon". Give Pauley another season, THEN give "Abby" her own show.

An Abby spinoff?
NO! Abby belongs on NCIS. End of story. |
