Default Jumpin' the shark

many tv shows have jumped the shark and thus, gone downhill during the latter seasons of the series, through changing plotlines and stupid ideas, but i wanted to know, were there any shows, or do you know of any tv shows which never 'jumped the shark' ?

"Knots Landing"

It ran for 14 seasons on CBS, got rid of stale characters (an idea which wasn't always popular with fans) brought in new younger actors and current storylines, and never jumped - never even came close.

It came a little bit close in season 13 but the producers shut the show down. They fired some actors and revamped the storyline and voila...a show that stayed fresh until the end.

Family Ties - even though some say the birth of Andrew and Nick nearly did it, it was during Andrew's birth that FT saw its highest ratings ever! As high as #2 or so.

Dick Van Dyke

Riptide

Night Court - even though the series finale wasn't exactly the greatest in the world

Barney Miller

Taxi

Cheers - Even though I found most of the Diane-era to be nearly unwatchable

St. Elsewhere

Mary Tyler Moore Show, The

Bernie Mac Show, The

Cagney & Lacey

I Dream of Jeannie

Dragnet (the original 1950s and 1960s only)

Adam-12

Emergency!

Sanford and Son

Maude

Kojak (the 1970s version)

Rockford Files, The

Jeffersons, The

Mannix

Incredible Hulk, The

WKRP in Cincinnati
