Do Celebrities Really Get Paid For Award Shows? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was wondering if it's true that a celebrity gets paid to show up for an award's show, talk show appearance, movie screening etc?
I know they get paid for being on a tv show or movie. I'm just wondering when they're promoting a show they're in or receiving an award for it, do they get paid?

I am not certain but I think that if the celebs. are promoting a show / movie on a talk show that they have to do them by contract. That may not be the case for all but some celebs. have "mandatory promotion" worked into their contracts with the studio.

Their travel expenses / room and board are paid for by the studios.

Award shows I think are also part of the contract but I am not 100% certain.

I don't know if they get paid or not, but I always thought most presenters got a crazy expensive gift bag.
