Helen Mirren Cast in "Arthur" Remake - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Helen Mirren will star opposite Russell Brand in Warner Bros.' remake of "Arthur."
She'll play his longtime nanny in a reimagining of the John Gielgud part in the 1981 comedy, in which he played Arthur's butler.

Jason Winer, who directed the pilot of ABC's "Modern Family," will helm "Arthur," produced by Larry Brezner, Chris Bender and Kevin McCormick. Brand, Scott Kroopf, J.C. Spink and Nick Linnen are exec producing.

In the original, Dudley Moore's Arthur turned to Gielgud's Hobson for advice after his family threatens to cut off his inheritance unless he marries a woman he doesn't love. Gielgud won the supporting actor Oscar.

Oh definitely. I don't know what they were thinking even remaking Arthur in the first place, but Russell Brand, seriously!? Dudley Moore was so sweet and adorable as Arthur. There is no way that Russell could bring the heart to the movie that Dudley did.

Russell Brand is someone i just don't get. I don't know what anybody sees in him.
