TV Casting: Kyle Chandler May Star in "Terra Nova"

"Friday Night Lights" may be coming to end, but it appears the game is far from over for star Kyle Chandler.

According to reports, Chandler has received a "very lucrative offer" to star in the new Fox drama "Terra Nova" from producers Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin, about a family who travels back in time to the dinosaur age. The series is already expected to be picked up under a 13-episode order.

In the meantime, fans can check out Chandler when "FNL" season 4 premieres Fri., May 7 on NBC. [Ausiello Files]

The Wrap has learned that Fox's big-budget series "Terra Nova" is still searching for its leading man now that "Friday Night Lights" star Kyle Chandler turned down lucrative offers and passed on the prehistoric project from exec producers Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin.

"Terra Nova" follows a futuristic family that travels back 150 million years to a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

The actor's representatives at Gersh, respectively, confirmed that he has decided against sharing the small screen with dinosaurs, which sounds crazy on the surface given the chance to work with Spielberg, the director of blockbusters Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World.

It's unclear why Chandler passed on the high-profile project but it's possible that Chandler simply didn't want to commit to another TV series with more movie opportunities on the horizon.

"Terra Nova" is expected to land a 13-episode order and be a major component of Fox's future primetime plans.

Chandler next appears in Leland Orser's feature directorial debut Morning, which stars Jeanne Tripplehorn, Laura Linney and Jason Ritter.
