Thumbs up VH1 Admits Most of Their Reality Shows Were Garbage....(Sort Of)

VH1 is setting a high bar for itself this year: Launching 44 new shows -- without resorting to the usual trashy shenanigans which have accounted for the bulk of its reality ratings success.

"As much as they've enjoyed the 'Love' franchise, our audience was getting a little fatigued by all those manufactured reality shows," said Tom Calderone, president, VH1. "They want more authenticity in their reality, which isn't to say that it can't be comedic and light."

Which is I guess is the VH1's president's way of gently telling fans that all those shows they loved were b.s.

The spiel is part of the network's annual pitch to advertisers. Each of the new VH1 shows will align with one of three genres: music, celebrity and "real life stories."

Fatigued? They ate the trash right up! Rock of Love is like their highest rated show ever.

Flavor Of Love and I love New York are the high points of all VH1 programming. Now they want to focus on D-list celebrities.

Idiots.

If that's the high points then I'd hate to know what the low ones are.

The "Love" shows were enjoyable TV shows, period. Everyone -- behind the scenes, in front of the camera, the audience, the network, the press, starving animals in Siberian Russia, bacteria floating in the middle of the Pacific -- knew the score, that it was all manufactured, but the point is, no one cared. It was fun, mindless entertainment that millions of people liked to watch. VH1 is silly for going headfirst into the "serious" shows.

Staged reality shows, that's crazy. Why would VH1 call it reality TV in that case? Lying asses.
