I watched the "L'Enfant" segment recently on that one video site and there was an update pasted at the end (from circa 2002, I believe). Anyway.... it's a very strange, sloppy update, and it doesn't really look like something Lifetime would write. It starts out: "Don't believe everything you see on Unsolved Mysteries...", then goes on to suggest that the guy claiming to get all the phone calls was just wacky and a liar.
Can anyone confirm the update's authenticity? Also, anyone else think L'Enfant sounded like Gary Coleman? |

I'm sure that update you saw was a hoax. I don't know of any real update to this story.

I saw that recently and was like WHOA, but I started reading the comments and came to the same consensus as some of them did.
While I wouldn't be surprised if some of what they were saying about Bashir was true, I highly doubt he made everything up - I'm sure UM verified alot of it for the original broadcast. Plus, how do you explain the new guy at his restaurant getting the Gary Coleman soundalike kid threatening him...and the attack on his son (on a completely serious note, that was pretty scary). The line about "Don't believe what you see on Unsolved Mysteries" isn't something UM themselves would write, imo. I'm guessing someone took partial truths, exaggerated it and copied the UM update style font and background. |

That being said I do not think that Gabir is a completely innocent person. I think there was a very good reason why he was kidnapped earlier and why these harassment calls were happening. Gabir was involved in something that made terrorist groups angry at him. |

Thank you for the replies, everyone.
I'm happy to learn that the update was homemade and someone at Lifetime wasn't drunk (anymore than usual, anyway). Yes, I doubt that Gabir fabricated the whole thing. There were confirmed records that those calls were made. And the whole matter of the child getting assaulted by those thugs also puts a crimp into the fabrication theory..... unless he just hired 2 guys to beat up a kid. But I also concur that he wasn't a total innocent himself. There's definitely much more to the story and he left out many details that would portray himself in a negative light. |

Well, remember the cop from California whose kids were abducted by his ex-wife? Weren't they found in Iowa or found but then the cops let them escape or something like that? I would have to watch the segment again to remember the guy's name.
