Question April 15th. Have you done your taxes?

Tomorrow is Tax Day. I did our taxes last night, using Turbo Tax. I'm proud of myself because numbers and I don't exactly get along. Turbo Tax is so user friendly. It cost a fraction of H&R Block's $300 fee.

I haven't done mine, because I don't have to because of my S.S.I.

Just mailed mine. I really should be more prompt about it as I'm getting refunds from both the Fed & State. I hate doing the paperwork esp. the NY State form. The Feds not so bad but the NY form is for the birds & is much more complicated for me. A key reason is that I'm a NYC ee, which means that I have to add my health care premiums and pension payments back into my income for the NY form but not for the Fed. BUT WHAT IS REALLY DUMB on the NY form is that you can't just attach your W-2's - you have to copy over all the information onto this stupid form called an IT-2. It's enough to make you want to pull your hair out. I think I procrastinate because I SO HATE having to do the NY form. The filing procedure for NY MUST have been designed by the King of The Bureaucrats. It is so dumb!!! Anyways, both sets of forms just got mailed so Thank God that's done.

Mine were done months ago. Also, I don't do them, my former neighbor who's a CPA does them for me and the rest of my family. It's nice not to have to worry about doing it yourself.

I already got both (state and fed) my refunds too.

I also do Turbo Tax. I can't see paying hundreds of dollars just to do taxes. I got a refund from Fed but had to pay state.

We always do ours with H&R Block, and always at the last minute.
Well, this year we did them at 4pm yesterday.

We usually get pretty good refunds, well, except from state. This year we did get a pretty big one from state, but it was actually about the same amount we paid to them last year.

What was so frustrating for me is that I'm good with with numbers, forms and detail. Unfortunately, at times, I'm also good at recognizing when something is more complicated than it needs to be and it drives me insane. I actually like doing my taxes but the NY form is for the birds.
