AUSTRALIA!!!! Yes after two cancellations from Virgil Entertainment, for those interested in which I was most certainly anxiously awaiting this awful but good NBC 1976 Saturday Morning Live action one season 13 episode wonder is available with the exact cover art as a region 0 (Don't worry about the region 4 code on the actual box). This is an official release, comes with minor bonus features like photos and episode synopsis. Comes in a standard two disc amaray case and can be found by a very honest and reasonable private seller on amazon.....the total price with shipping is under $30 and my order arrived from Australia in 5 business days and played perfectly in my standard American DVD player. It was so nice to revisit this Sherwood Schwartz and son written and produced saturday morning gem, came on at 11AM eastern followed by "Land Of The Lost".....for me last Saturday morning I was 13 again and it was 1976! Can't understand how and why it is only available in Australia, but it is, so for those that I read got cancellation notices from Amazon, pick it up while you can....you won't be sorry because even if this is released someday in America, who cares...it won't be any cheaper and I was just tired of waiting! I notified www.tvshowsondvd.com of my discovery, but they didn't consider it newsworthy enough I guess to pass it on to their readers. They just announced that Virgil had "postponed" its release once again. Now if only Australia could release the rest of "Donna Reed"!
Lastly the prints look good, a little grain, but this series was produced very cheaply and I'm surprised any prints survived at all, considering it was never syndicated with only 13 episodes produced. So again if you want to re-live your childhood or share it with your own children, this is a classic extremely rare, lost and forgotten family friendly entertainment series for all! |
