The Flintstones. I just thought they were so much better and funnier than the Jetsons.

I prefer the Flintstones. They were a lot better and funnier than the Jetsons. Plus, the Flintstones was more of a classic than the Jetsons.

I loved them both, but I have to go with the Jetsons. I guess I love the way that it was far ahead of its time. The Robot maid, the pills taken as meals, the video telivision, the genious son, living way above sea level, and the car that folded up into a briefcase. I also loved the clever theme song, and the talking dog Astro. I believe that it first aired in 1964, I remember watching it during the late 60s or early 70s time frame.

The Flintstones.
I loved both of these shows; still do. But The Flintstones were homier, if you know what I mean. I felt more at home with them and the Rubbles. I also enjoyed seeing how they had "modern" conveniences like their Mammoth shower, or whatever-it-was animal garbage disposal. The Jetsons were fun too, but I dunno, I think they were a little too contemporary. By that I mean that the storylines were too much in the decade in which the shows were made, and not enough in the future. The things I disliked about each show: I couldn't stand Gazoo on the Flintstones. I didn't much like Orbity (sp?) on the Jetsons. |

I never liked The Jetsons because I thought they just tried to hard to copy the format of The Flintstones.
The only time I thought the Jetsons were good was on Jetsons Meet The Flintstones. |

I understand how you feel on that issue JethroSimpson, but you must remember that they are both from the same creators (Hanna-Barbera), therefore there were bound to be some similarites. But the basic concept was different, The Flintstones were the stone age family (the past) and the Jetsons were the futuristic family, complete with their high tech gadgets. But when you brake it down to how each character relates to his family, friends and boss, then one finds them to be strikingly similar. Mr Slate and Mr Spacely are particularly similar, they both like to make life difficult for Fred and George respectively.
But if you are able to look past the obvious similarities, than I think you may be able to enjoy the Jetsons as much as the Flintstones. Because each series is well written. If there were such a thing as a cartoon hall of fame, than both of these shows would be there. |

The Flinstones are the best. It's my favorite Hanna-Barbara's cartoon!!!I thought that was a great concept to see animated series in the prehistorical era.I liked the cars that they had to run with their feet, animals who are everyday tools. This Honeymooners cartoon's type is a classic
