Default Misjudging Rose

Oh,sure.Rose was somewhat dimwitted sometimes. But she revealed things about her that Dorothy,Blanche and Sophia DIDN'T know about. For instance, the girls did NOT know she smoked when she was younger(as did Dorothy and Blanche-Dorothy was surprised when she learned that Rose did that, and she was shocked beyond belief when she knew what a homo-er-homosexual -was,at first,Dorothy thought she said hobo,(Dorothy probably thought that Rose was too dumb to know what a homoisexual was,but she was wrong,)she was REALLY surprised when she found out what Rose really said.Sophia never found out,and probably thought that Rose was dumb and didn't know what a homosexual was,nor did Blanche ,who probably changed her mind about Rose, after calling her an empty-headed twit.Boy,were THEY wrong.Sophia also probably thought that Rose was dumb, but did she ever say "Rose, you're not as dumb as we thought. In fact, you're pretty smart.",or something like that? Were there any OTHER things about Rose that she revealed about her that Dorothy,Blanche and Sophia DIDN'T know about, and were surprised to learn about her?

And Sophia REALLY misjudged Rose in the episode with Roses' sister Holly(Inga Swenson),when Sophia couldn't tell which dog was Dreyfus, and Rose did.She probably thought,"How the ****did she know? She's not as dumb as I thought!"

I think sometimes the girls did misguide Rose when really she was the smartest of the 4. Like for example, when Sophia and Blanche got ripped off and Rose tells them that they were used and told them about the Pigeon Drop. I'd say that Rose sometimes used her brain and was smart about things, but Rose wasn't dumb she was nieve about life she was not dumb or stupid.

And remember in the 2-part episode where Sophia was falsely accused of starting the fire that burned down Shady Pines? It wasn't Blanche,or even Dorothy who found out what REALLY happened, and cleared Sophia. It was Rose.Pretty smart cookie for someone who acts dumb, that Rose.

And did anyone else notice that it was usually Rose who saved the day during real emergencies? She's the one handling the fire extinguisher in the episode where her sister, who is blind, starts the grease fire. And the one doing the Heimlich when Sophia chokes in "Room 7," (and sees Sal in Heaven.)

Even Betty White said that Rose wasn't "dumb" but "terminally naive". If someone told her something she believed it. She had no reason not to. Like when she told everyone that she had never owned a television the whole time she was with Charlie, it turned out that the reason why was because she had more sex than any of the girls combined.
Rose was raised on a farm and was actually smart in that aspect, not book smart like Dorothy.

See Rose is smart in a lot of ways and in most situations she was the one being smart about something and the other girls didn't think she was smart enough to do those things she did when she was being the smart one.

I like what Betty said about the character of Rose Nylund because what she said is very true. I agree with her because I don't or ever found Rose to be dumb, she can say stupid things sometimes but she wasn't dumb or stupid when it comes to surtain things.

And on "The Tonight Show"with Jay Leno Wednesday Night, they had Betty White on the show, and featured a video collage of Betty White's career, and included a clip of The Golden Girls that showed Rose breakdancing!,(or doing something like that)people cheering, and Dorothy and Blanche looking on in stunned amazement, and probably originally thought that Rose was so naieve and dumb that she didn't know what breakdancing was.Boy,were they wrong!

Rose is cool like that, she can be really smart and I know Betty had a wonderful time playing her cause she has said that Rose is one of her favorite roles.

I always thought of Rose more as innocent and naive than dumb!

Yes, it's true she was the more innocent/naive one no matter what she is still a great character.

Other examples in which Rose is the one that takes action:

I haven't seen this episode in a while. In the 2nd half of the Vacation episode where the girls think they are stranded on an island, it was Rose that took action.

In the episode where Rose "killed" Mrs. Claxton, it was her that saved the tree from being cut down by spreading the ashes there.

In the episode where one of Sophia's friends was in a run down retirement home, it was Rose that took the time to find a good home. Although they wouldn't have been able to afford it if not for Blanches' bonus.

And,I don't knows what episode it was in,but Dorothy was taken aback somewhat, and surprised when Rose said"And I'm the smartest one in St.Olaf".
