Default "Password" and ALL the reincarnations

Which did you like better-1)CBS'1960's ORIGINAL version of "password",2)The 1970's ABC version 3)the thankfully short-lived "Password All-Stars",4)NBC's"Password Plus",5)NBC's"Super Password",or 6)the CBS' "millionairized""Million Dollar Password"(the episodes with Betty White(especially the first one with her)were the only thing good about this one.).My favorite,by far was 1)The CBS original 1960's version. The ABC version, except for the lousy "Password All-Stars",which was thankfully short-lived and returned to the old contestant-celebrity format toward the end of its ABC run, wasn't bad,but I didn't care for the betting word."Password Plus" and "Super Password"I don't remember very much about, and the CBS'"Million Dollar Password" was okay, but nothing to write home about. If they decided to remake it again, they should leave it at a half-hour,forget about the $1,000,000 prize(scale the jackpot down to $100,000,$250,000 or $500,000),same format as the original CBS 1960'sversion( celebrity-contestant),and have someone with the flair of John 0'Hurley or even Richard Karn as host.

To me, the best version of Password was the original hosted by Allen Ludden. It was a very simple game that turned out to be one of the best word games in TV history. It was also the first game show to pair celebrities and contestants on the same team and paved the way for shows such as You Don't Say and the many Pyramid incarnations.

The 70s Password to me was like the original except for the addition of "The Betting Word". But when the format changed to "Password All-Stars", I felt the show jumped the shark.

Password Plus and Super Password were examples of how a revival can be better. Unfortunately, Ludden passed away during the run of Password Plus and Tom Kennedy replaced him at the podium and did quite well. Super Password was very similar to Password Plus, though it was more hi-tech and had an escalating jackpot. Bert Convy showed why he was a very good host. He kept the game moving and had a lot of fun as host, bringing a sense of humor to the show.

As for Million Dollar Password, I wasn't crazy about the show. Granted, Regis Philbin is an outstanding host but the show looked too glitzy and looked like severals Lightning Rounds strung together.

I agree, especially about Password All Stars. What were G-T thinking? MDP will be seen on The Game Show Network (GSN) on Saturdays starting April 10, I believe.

I enjoyed the MDP it was quite good but no other Password series is better than the original. Nothing beats the original!
