The original verson which ran from 1972 to 1975 on ABC and starred Tom Kennedy?Or the syndicated short lived 1986 version that was hosted by Monty Hall?Monty Hall,who also produced both versions,was better as host of Let's Make a Deal.The ABC original with Tom Kennedy was much better.Anyone else agree?

I remember Split Second really well. It was a very fast paced game show and Tom Kennedy did a great job hosting. It's also remembered for "The Countdown Round", where the leading contestant needed three answers to win, the second place player, four and the player trailing the other two, five. Win or lose, all contestants kept the money they one with the winner playing for a new car. If the car they picked, started, they won the car. If it didn't start, the champion would return the next day with a better chance of winning the car.

There was also a short-lived syndicated version in the mid 80s that was produced in Toronto and was hosted by co-creator Monty Hall.

I have to agree that Split Second was my favorite show hosted by Tom Kennedy, with Name That Tune a close second. SS required brains, just looking pretty wasn't enough. I'm surprised they haven't tried bringing it back. They'd have to get another host, I believe Kennedy is 83 and pretty much retired.

Ah, yes! Split Second, classic 70's show with that classic orange set and those now-classic cars. It was one of the many games shows I grew up with.

I remember watching "Split Second" in 1972-1973. It was shown on the local ABC channel at noon, if I remember correctly. Pretty cool cars, especially the Corvettes!

I remember one of the teachers in our high school had won a car on "Split Second." Apparently she picked the right car.

This was a great show, and I remember it from the 70s as well as the 1986 version hosted by Hall. Both shows were terrific in their own right, but the 70s version was a bit better, having the 5 cars and the studio & set the way it was. I too am surprised nobody has tried to re-hash this program.
