It's no secret that Bill Murray is a pain in the ass. It's also no secret that Mr. Murray has been the (main) hold-up on Columbia Pictures' third Ghostbusters film (and even Mattel's toy line), the long-gestured sequel that's ready to roll from a screenplay by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. While recent news circulated that Columbia Pictures wants to replace director Ivan Reitman, National Enquirer gossip columnist claims that the recent hold-up is due to Murray's inability to cooperate, which is causing a rift between the stars/producers. Read on for more.
National Enquirer gossip columnist Mike Walker was on the Howard Stern Show yesterday playing his regular "gossip game", where Howard and company have to guess which story is fake. One of the TRUE stories told revolved around the behind-the-scenes issues between Murray and the other Ghostbusters. "Dan Aykroyd called 'ol pal and Ghostbusters co-star Bill Murry and snarled 'stop acting like a jerk', " Walker reported. "Murray, despite agreeing to doing the film, has suddenly turned so cranky and mean [that] he refuses to answer phone calls." Said a source, "Producers gave Bill script approval needed for his cooperation, but that cant even seem to get him on the phone to talk about the script. He's even told 'em that his character needs to be killed off in the opening minutes of the film." It's old news that Murray would die in the opening scene and play a ghost in the third film, but it's news that old friend Dan Aykroyd had to call Murray and put his foot down. Unfortunately, there are no other updates. While Columbia Pictures attempts to push Reitman out of the director's chair, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver and even Bill Murray (which is why this is so shocking) have agreed to star. If the third film ever gets made, it will follow a new breed of Ghost Busters whom are passed the torch... http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/19681 |

At this point, why bother? The whole appeal of the first two films was the cast (honestly, I always thought both were funny but very overrated) and if 1/3 of the cast is basically going to be absent, it seems like a waste of time.
I suppose they'll try to introduce a new "generation" of Ghostbusters so they can continue the franchise but really, this all sounds like a bomb waiting to go off. WRITE...SOMETHING...ORIGINAL...

Agreed - I don't see the point, either.

I respectfully disagree, this is one sequel I actually think could work if done right.
On to the topic of Bill Murray though, this guy has become a miserable human being. He fueded with the cast of the Charlie's Angels remake, he sulked when he didn't win an OScar for Lost in Translation & now this. |

I like Bill Murray, but being a jerk isn't a new thing for Murray. He's always been that way going all the way back to SNL(and earlier I'm sure). Even Harold Ramis has said he's not an easy guy to work with, and they're friends.

Idon't wont bill murry to be a ghost. i think they should make it like video game were they hier new people to test out new equipment. they could be in the moive for short time then at the end have a new team of ghostbuster or maybe have them both team up to fiight a ghost. if they make it like the vidoegame then it would begood moive. my favorite billmurry moive is groundhog day. i like SCrooged and the man who knew too little.

He's such a whiny bitch. He was nominated for one Oscar, and didn't win. What about the people who have been nominated several times and still don't have a win. He may have talent, but I can't say I'd be too disappointed if he chose to retire.
