The last thread got me to thinking, about how similar my situation was with you and others. My story is I've been living at my Mom's duplex and taking care of her since 1998. I've lost almost all my relatives and I'm not really close to those who are left. I seen it coming when she had to be admitted to a convalescent hospital, she had Alzheimer's disease. In 2006 my Mom passed away leaving me alone to fend for myself I never imagined having to live without my parents. My step brother was the executor due to owing Medi-cal we had to sell the house where I had lived since I was in 5th grade.I never had to pay high rents before I stressed at where I was going to live now and was in mourning for three years. What got me through this mess was a lot of prayer and seeking God, well it really worked. I was able to get inner healing I needed and go on to build a new life for myself. I used my 401K to put a down payment on a small house and move 25 minutes away to a smaller town. I have two cats that are like my kids, I've always been single and not able to live like an adult. Part of the reason is I was very over protected. I'm learning to budget my money and live like a real adult. I hope my story helps anyone out there, please share your story and feel free to ask questions.

I rushed and left out information.....I stressed about having to move and worried about the timing on the selling of the house, will the new owners give me time to move or will they be willing to rent to me the answer is no, they wanted to occupy both sides of the duplex. I didn't want to move twice, where will I go? There is no where else to go, I even contemplated suicide but God reminded me what I would miss out on if I did take my life and that my life wasn't mine to take. I wasn't mad at God but, resented being left behind and having to fend for myself. For the house I opted for an FHA loan and put 3%down first time home buyer program. I managed to move before the new owners took over the house. I had no one to tell me how to go about getting a loan whatsoever, a friend at work recommended a realtor he used and that relator took things from then on. None of it was easy and I ran into some bumps along the way but everything worked out. I ended up paying $14,000 less than what they originally were asking, the home was 250sqf less than was stated and FHA wouldn't give me a loan for more than what the house appraised for and the sellers lowered their price.
