What..... we can only pick one ??

Well, here are a few:

From a "recurring" supporting actor perspective, I've always liked Allan Melvin as Rob's Army buddy in the flashback episodes.

As a one-time part, I like Howard Morris' "Halldecker" in The Masterpiece and Don Rickles in 4 1/2.

I have to say Mary. I adore her as Laura.

Actually I set up the poll so you can choose more than one!

Yikes ! My mistake. I didn't even look at the poll choices ! And besides that, I obviously was thinking "guest stars" not "supporting actors." Serves me right for posting within 15 minutes of getting out of bed this morning !

To me, Laura was more of a co-lead than a supporting character. Richard Deacon was one of the unsung heroes of TDVDS - Mel Cooley was such a dull, humorless guy but Mr. Deacon brought a certain sweetness to the role. He was adored by cast and crew alike until his passing in 1984.

I'm sure she was one of (if not THE) main reason why many men tuned into the show.

I agree I think Mary was a "co-star" and not supporting. I would have to vote for Rose Marie. But, heck, I love them all .

I'd rate Mary more as the co-lead too, so I'll vote for Millie.
I never liked to see the plots focus too much on the supporting players because I didn't like to see the focus taken off of Rob and Laura, who were just more fun. But Ann Morgan Guilbert was fun too. She worked well with Mary and Jerry and always seemed a bit inspired in the way she did her scenes. She added and never took away. And sometimes she was hilarious. She was perfect as Jerry's wife and Laura's friend.
