TV Charlie Sheen Releases Statement on What's Going On...

Is Charlie Sheen Leaving "Two and a Half Men"?
April 1, 2010 | By: Chris Harnick

Charlie Sheen is reportedly done with "Two and a Half Men".
No, this isn't an April Fools' joke.

Sources tell PEOPLE that the embattled actor is "done" with the show after its April 9 taping.

"He wants to move on," added another source, who claims that the decision is "100 percent his idea."

And while he didn't confirm or deny the news, Sheen's rep, Stan Rosenfield, had this ominous quote to say: "Charlie's deal is only through this current season."

"Two and a Half Men" is the top-rated comedy on television, averaging about 15 million viewers an episode. In his seven seasons on the show, Sheen has been nominated for an Emmy four times, although he's never won.

Sheen has been the in the middle of a hurricane of controversy following a Christmas Day fight with his wife, Brooke Mueller, which led to his arrest.

The actor entered rehab on Feb. 25 as a "preventative measure." The actor is currently facing domestic violence charges in relation to the fight.

Highly doubt it. He's the highest paid actor on television, and there's no way he's walking at this point. If they come back and do one more season to wrap things up, I'm sure the fans will be happy.

Even though it's signed for 9, I can't imagine the show going another 2 years.

Sources directly connected to "Two and a Half Men" are laughing at reports that Charlie Sheen says he's done with the show.

Although the show has been sold to CBS for two more seasons, Charlie's deal is up and the parties are far apart, but that's nothing new ... it's happened with Charlie before.

We're told Charlie is currently making $825,000 an episode, and he's asking for $1.5 million. We're told the Warner Bros. offer is around $1 million an episode.

Warner Bros. will make a fortune if the show continues, because any fresh episodes will automatically become part of the syndication deal. Charlie would also make a fortune.

As one person put it, "This deal will be made at midnight on the day CBS announces its new fall schedule [May 19]. Everyone plays the brinksmanship game."

And there's this ... it's not going to be particularly easy for Charlie to get a new show, given he's in rehab and facing a possible jail sentence.

And one well-connected source snarkily said, "Does anyone really think Charlie will walk away from $48 million?"

A new rumor has it that the show will be retitled One And A Half Men for the upcoming fall season.

You can't imagine the show going for another 2 years? Seriously? I could easily see the show on the air for many more years to come. Granted, Angus T. Jones is getting to the point of being past a half, but still, people are not tiring of this show. It's making a bundle in syndicationi dollars, earning high syndication earnings, and is still the top rated comedy, after 7 seasons on the air. No way will CBS let this happen. I'm sure news of Charlie's leaving has all to do with contract negotiations.

Default Seems to me....

...I recall Alec Baldwin threatening to leave "30 ROCK", and retire from the acting profession, because of his marital difficulties with Kim Basinger, several years ago...until someone talked him into staying with the series {"Listen, you moron! '30 ROCK' is one of NBC's biggest successes- which isn't saying much- and I'm not going to let YOU throw a monkey wrench into it by suddenly deciding you're 'tired of acting'! You sign up for another season, or I will personally see to it that you're blackballed from the industry for life!!!!"}....I could be wrong. But Baldwin did remain with the show.

Perhaps Charlie Sheen will change his mind as well.

Charlie Sheen Denies Trying to Strongarm "Men"
By PopEater Staff
Posted Apr 9th 2010

When word of Charlie Sheen's departure from "Two and a Half Men" -- the hit show that has killer ratings and earns Sheen nearly a million dollars per episode -- most reported that the actor was looking to make the jump back into film.

However, some asserted that Sheen was using the threat of quitting in order to strike fear in the hearts of CBS execs in order to tweak his contract. Sheen is now denying any such motives, telling PEOPLE that the stories and "numbers reported in the press are false."

"Much speculation and rumor has arisen from my current status surrounding "Two and a Half Men" ... All of the numbers reported in the press are false. Claims from 'inside sources' regarding offers from the studio as well as my salary, on their best day, are without merit.

Approaching the start of the current season and as far back as June '09, I submitted my terms for season eight to Warner Bros. and CBS respectfully,
" Sheen told PEOPLE.

He goes on to say that "both parties have known the score for over a year. In no way, has this been a hasty or negligent eleventh hour surprise."

Sheen continues, saying he is releasing the statement "out of love and respect to my crew, my on-set family, my writers, executive staff, as well as my real family, my dear friends and my loyal fans."

While acknowledging his fans, Sheen is unapologetic about the possibility that "Men" as they know it may be over.

"If tonight's show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun. I take from the experience 161 shows filled with a kaleidoscope of amazing experiences, memories, friendships and gratitude. I remain humbly inspired," he said.

Sheen's future on "Men" was thrown into disarray when he was arrested on Christmas day and subsequently hit with domestic violence charges for an alleged assault on his wife, Brooke Mueller.

In February, Sheen checked himself into "preventative" rehab, which caused production on "Men" to come to a screeching halt.

Sheen's contract expires after the 22nd and final episode of this season, leaving him free to pursue any path he chooses.

The last paragraph of that press release is one of the most pretentious things I've ever read.

The speculation is that Sheen wants to go back into films.

Prior to Two And A Half Men, Sheen's film career was pretty much dead. And it's not as though he's released any big movies while he's been on the show.

He ought to be grateful for the fact that he's in essence playing himself on a top rated show and getting paid very well for the privelige.

And if he does leave, they should end the show, because we know what happens when a hit show tries to continue without the actor and character that show is built around.

Chico & The Man, anyone...?
