Eek NOW FEATURING...GHOST-A-GO-GO

My son actually used to get scared if he watched this episode late at night!

My son did bring up a good point that I had never thought of. Why did the "ghost" have to kill the castaways. At first, he was content just to scare them off the island. As the Professor said, when he found they couldn't leave, he provides them with a boat--that would be the next step in getting them to leave. So,why the need for murder?

It's interesting that Gilligan is upset about leaving the island. What do you make of this? I know people sometimes say that Gilligan likes it there, but doesn't he get very excited and happy about the prospect of being rescued when it occurs? What do you think Gilligan's attitude about being rescued from the island is?

It's odd how theSkipper just takes a written note from a ghost so matter-of factly,.

I love the scene where Gilligan is making the Skipper's dummy!

Pretty sinister of the "ghost" when he makes the comment about corpses being cold but their beds still warm.

Where did they get all the sheets on the island? why would the Minnow have had sheets? (This isn't one of those snide comments about GI; I was wondering if anyone actually had an answer to this)

The stuff with the Howells is pretty funny when they think Gilligan played the pranks on them--just the idea of it.

That is a very good point. Perhaps the ghost meant to kill them all along; the "scaring them off" was just a means to get them into a boat where he could blow them up. If he could kill them all at once instead of one by one, he wouldn't risk the chance of being caught by them. And perhaps he and his superiors didn't want to risk anyone else learning of the valuable offshore oil.

It is a surprising statement, isn't it? The "I had fun here" could refer to the (relatively) carefree life on the island as well as the camaraderie of his friends. Gilligan's opinion almost mirrors that of Wrongway Feldman, who preferred a rustic "paradise" to the chaos and frantic pace of civilization: and how ironic that Wrongway even said to Gilligan, "My boy, this is your home."

Especially when he'd assumed, along with the Professor, that the ghost was just a plain white sheet! Neither he nor the Professor paid attention to Gilligan's observation that the "plain white sheet" had arms, legs and a voice.

Where did the sheets come from? Maybe another one of those handy crates that floated in to the lagoon!

Writer Roland MacLane was a master of the Gilligan-Skipper hut scene, and this episode has several great ones. "Go out and count to ten!", "Let's play cards" and so on. And then there's Ginger scolding the Professor for watching her undress her dummy! LOL!

This episode is part of what I call the Hallowe'en triad of GI episodes: there's this one, "The Friendly Physician," and "Up At Bat."

How can the Professer be sure that they can retrieve the dummies and THAT would solve the GHOST problem???? If they got in the boat it might STILL BE BOOBY TRAPPED..

Also scary one, a little later that season, "V for Vitamins", due to the scary Jack and the Beanstalk/Giant Skipper dream. A Castle episode that aired right after another castle one, "Friendly Physician", the 2nd following "GHost". A non-scary one, "Allergy Time", premiered after "Ghost a Go-Go" and before "Friendly Physuician".,

And the boat blows up, the castaway dummies fall into the lagoon, but the clothes seem to be unharmed!

Thank god! Through thick and thin, little seems more important to most of the castaways than their clothes!
