Hey, I just got to wondering. What do you think would happen if when they released tv shows on dvd they went the once a year route? You know where they only release a season a year.
I think they did the once a year route for show on DVD they could just take their time and do it right. That away we'd get better products that way. Not only we'd get the episodes in their original uncut and unedited form they could take the time to come up with plenty of bonus features for the show. I'm thinking for The Lucy Show and some other shows their doing the once a year route thing. It seems like when they rush the seasons they don't take the time to do it right and they just slap it together. That's where you get some show on DVD where it has syndicated episodes snuck in or there are edits on the episodes and there are music replacements because they couldn't get the music rights for some of the music and didn't take the time to do it right. When I first started collecting TV on DVD back in 2004 I thought they did only release seasons once a year. The first TV on DVD I collected was 7th Heaven The Complete First Season. While I didn't see any difference between them and the ones in syndicated there where no bonus features. Although I do look at the bonus features that often but, I imagion plenty of peps would like them. Please let me know your ideas on this. Thanks. |

Time isn't the only factor in creating quality DVD sets. It's also money. Some companies have larger budgets than others, but they all aim to be profitable. The more money they invest in a project, the more they expect to get back. Even a hardcore fan might pass up on a favorite if the price isn't right. Plus, the longer you wait to release seasons, the more likely people lose interest or buy bootlegs.
I like to have 2 seasons a year or the complete series at one time. Many of my favorite shows (like My Three Sons) were on for over 10 years and I don't want to be on social security by the time they come out on DVD. |
