Didn't see anything on these boards about it, so I thought I'd start a thread. Larry was murdered in 1992. He had split from his wife, and his new girlfriend Jo had split from her boyfriend.
Larry was found in his bedroom naked and shot in the head I believe. His uncle and a sheriff found him in there. Jo has never been found. There are two schools of thought: She was either involved in the murder and has fled for good, or she was taken by her ex-boyfriend or someone else and murdered elsewhere. There have been reported sightings of her all over the country. Even a sighting that claimed she was driving a transport truck. Personally I think she's dead. So does Larry's uncle and Jo's mother. Larry's ex-wife believed that he was able to get a person mad enough at him to be able to kill him in an argument. Here is another thing I thought. He was found naked. Something tells me that Jo is unlikely to have shot him right after they had sex. Why would she? Or was it set up like that by the Jo to make it look like a jealous man walked in on them therefore making her look like the missing victim? I don't know their relationship in and out, but they never mentioned any animosity in their relationship nor did anyone give a reason why Jo would kill him |

Well was Larry or the bed tested for evidence of sexual activity? Just because he was naked does not really mean anything if you look at it carefully. If there was no evidence of sexual activity as in ejaculation or semen or whatever, then, well, I would suggest that Jo shot him. I think Jo shot him in any event and in other threads on this board have got into some pretty nasty arguments with relatives of Larry Costine over it.

Again, the reason why I point to Jo, is because the ex boyfriend had a confirmed alibi for the exact moment this murder is though to have happened. He could not be in two places at once. As much as Jo's family and the Costine's are determined to believe this guy did this, he simply was not able to be there. There is no other way to say that. This was in Polk County, Florida, and all I will say is, if this guy, if they had ANY and I mean ANY evidence no matter h ow circumstantial this guy would have been arrested. That is how Polk County is with cases, they clear them.
Larry Costine was well known for being and by all accounts was very capable of taking care of himself. Had someone pulled a gun on him, especially a jealous ex boyfriend of Jo's there would have been a struggle. There was no signs of struggle inside the trailer. That tells me that only Larry and Jo were inside that trailer. While Jo's ex boyfriend had stalked her, there was no indication that he had ever been violent, certainly not to this level of breaking into a trailer or invading a trailer and pulling a gun and then shooting a man 5 times in the head. In any event, why wouldn't he kill Jo at the scene? Jo was the one that he was angry with, not Larry. Plus Jo was also a good sized woman, very well built. When I say good sized, I mean well built, not fat. She was 5'10, weighed 175 pounds and was in very good shape, muscular. I mean why kill Larry and then take a 175 pound body out? Even if you are in good shape that is not an easy body to carry around, especially a long distance. From what I understand, there was no biological evidence of Jo's at the scene, no blood, none of that sort of thing. So, regardless if she killed Larry or not, she was alive and physically unharmed when she left the trailer. Larry was shot 5 times in the head, clearly that is a personal style killing. You could shoot him once in the head and probably kill him yet whoever killed him shot him 5 times. Why? Whoever did this was clearly very angry at Larry. That is why I tend to think Jo did it. I just cannot think of who else would be able to suddenly start shooting him 5 times in the head? Again, I would have to also look at the police reports, were any weapons tied to either Jo or the ex-boyfriend that fit the type of weapon used to kill Larry? |

Also, looked it up, while it did not exactly say so, one of the reports indicated one of Larry's guns was missing. So I would assume although I cannot prove it that one of Larry's own guns was used to kill him.

Well possibly, but I am not really sure what point you are trying to make? Larry was naked. Who would strut around their house naked unless they were either alone or unless they were comfortable around a person present? It does not make a whole lot of sense.

I guess you can put me in the camp that thinks Jo is dead. Okay fine, her ex-boyfriend had an alibi. That doesnt stop him from sending a couple of big boys to do his dirty work for him.
Plus there was never a sense of animosity with Jo and Larry. The only person who suspected Jo might have done this was Larry's ex-wife. Maybe not the most credible source. Larry can handle himself right? That's fine, but so can I. I'm 6'2" 265lbs. I guarantee you though that my strength can't compare with five bullets to the head though. Let's say the door is open (unlocked) and Larry and Jo are, shall we say, comfortable with each other. An intruder gets in there, maybe just a random robbery and shoots Larry in the head. Jo is freaked out and is lured away at gunpoint. Or the suspect knew who they were and figured that a disappearing Jo would make her the prime suspect with Larry dead. Then he kills her elsewhere and buries her body. Is this not possible? I think so. |
