The Addams Family in Color? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

If there had been a third season of this sitcom do you think they would have filmed it in color? Personally, both this series and The Munsters just wouldn't be the same in color. We have two failed reunions that proved that, with the Munsters, Go Home in 1966 and Halloween with the Addams Family in 1977. The Black and White added a level of coolness and creepiness to both series. What do you think?

A third season of either "The Munsters" or "The Addams Family" would have been filmed in color, since all networks' prime-time schedules were fully in color by the fall of 1966. In fact, I've heard that the reason one of these shows (can't remember which) was cancelled because the producers and the network didn't want to deal with an expensive color conversion for what probably would have been the final season. (This is definitely the reason "The Patty Duke Show" was cancelled that same year - United Artists was holding out for one more black-and-white season, so ABC dropped it.)

I agree, that both of these shows would have suffered from the addition of color - it would have taken away from their charm.

Yea, it's just as well that they ended when they did. It would have spoiled them if some of the eps were filmed in color.
