One thing that I have acknowleged a long time ago is that my attempts to stimulate any meaningfull conversation on this page is really just a formality! I guess that the generation of people who grew up with this series has simply moved on to other things. There is nothing that I or anyone else can do about it! However, I have thought of a way to commemorate the twenty-six views of my last thread. Twenty-six years ago, it was 1984. I can think of a lot of interesting things that happened that year. Let us start with a topic that I have been accused of (many times over) of beating into the ground! This top is the third season episode called "Samantha's Protest". I have really worked my fingers to the bones to try to get more feedback about peoples' points of view about this episode! I would love to find friends who could share in my joy of the poetic justice that took place! Well, in any event, this was one of a bunch of episodes that I can think of that came out in 1984. For those who are interested, there is another episode that was made that year that is up on "Youtube". This is the one in which Nell gets hypnotised. Well, one thing that I could think of that might be fun would be for people to write about the differences that they can think of between what really went on in 1984 and what George Orwell predicted in his novel!

Wow, I had not thought it was that long since 1984.
I remember reading George Orwell's book back in the 70s. As for people moving on... Well I guess real-life takes president. Like I'm currently married (so that takes up most of my time. I do like to keep checking back to this board on one of my favorite 80s shows. I haven't read George Orwell's book in years, so I can't really help you on this aspect. I know we had several new things in 1984, that seemed new at the time, but are quite quaint now. Time marches on. Remember the YK 2000 bug (or whatever it was called?). Now just a distant memory. 10 years ago. Man I feel old. |

The fact that I am first bringing this thread to the top of the page is mainly because I felt that I had, pretty much bleed dry what I could think of to say about this topic or any topics that relate to it. However, in between then and now, I have started two new threads on this page in an attempt to breath some new life into this board. No success so far. I have also attempted posting new threads on the pages of "Caroline in the City" and "Mad About You". Now those are two pages that get virtually no action! Well, now I will see what I can do by bringing up yet another topic that pertains to the year 1984. In the summer of that year, there was a movie called Rhinestone. The stars of this film were Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stelone. I enjoyed it, but it was a pretty big flop in the ratings. Do any of you guys remember this one?

Throughout this sitting, I have been working very hard to stimulate some conversation on this page as well as "Mad about You" and "Caroline in the City". My efforts have been a combination of starting new threads as well as bringing old ones to the tops of pages. So far, I have not had any responses! At this point, I am thinking that, a lot of people might have had to read "Animal Farm" or "1984" for school and will thus be intrigued by the title of this thread. Let us see what happens this time around! |
