NORTH CAROLINA - What's the price of infidelity? One man's mistress is finding out.

A jury awarded a spurned North Carolina wife $9 million after she sued her husband's mistress. Cynthia Shackleford claimed in court that the "other woman" embarked on a "scheme to seduce and steal" her husband.

It's a charged called "alienation of affections," and North Carolina is one of only seven states that allow this kind of unusual lawsuit. The other states are Illinois, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, South Dakota and Utah.

To file this kind of claim, however, "you have to be ready to have all your dirty laundry aired in public," said attorney Lee Rosen. "Every skeleton is in your closet is going to be aired in public."

The mistress isn't commenting on the case.

Shackelford now hopes this will stop other women from becoming the "other woman" themselves.

One one hand I cant believe a court would make somebody pay that much for cheating.

One the other hand its always a disaster to mess around with someone elses man or woman. You do that, you are just aksing for trouble.
