When I saw the show for the first time, I discovered something of the Mansion's decoration that looks very familiar to me - I mean the two oval chimney portraits.

I saw the portrait of this grim old guy (Not the Governor!!!

) and I knew immediately that I knew him from somewhere...

...somewhere from the past...from my studies of french history...from a museum in London...and than it made *klick*...and voilà I knew who he was:

The french painter Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780 - 1867)

And the woman on the other portrait...

...is the painters wife:

Mme Ingres née Delphine Ramel

Well, with Benson you even can learn something about History of Art!

But I love those little details and I hope to find some more.

Wow, thanks for letting us know and for the close-ups of those pictures. I never knew who they were and never really thought to question it.

Geez, I know it's like a 2 yr late reply but I'm new here and couldn't help myself exploring the forum.

Thanks for these great screencaps! I've always thought the portraits were the governor's ancestors or something lol but wow! you really cracked that mystery about the French painter and his wife! I never would've guessed!

Anybody else notice the calendar in the kitchen? The one that didn't get changed out for like 4 years.
