Question What Are the WORST Theme Songs in TV History

There are many, many, many classic tv theme songs and theme music. What are some of the worst in your opinion? For me, I hate the Rockford Files theme song. I also am not a big fan of the Welcome Back Kotter theme either.

I always loathed the horrible, twangy Seinfeld theme. It makes me nervous, lol.

Likewise the wordless Cosby Show theme, blech.

I love the Rockford Files theme but I have to agree with you about Welcome Back Kotter. It's also one of about 4 or so themes that hit #1 on the Billboard singles chart and I never understood why. I think it's a rather boring song.

The Cosby Show and Life Goes On are two I can think of right now. Actually, the visuals of the Life Goes On theme weren't bad. I just hated that song.

Default Offhand...

...I can think of a few:

The third [abbreviated] season theme for "PRIVATE BENJAMIN" (1982-'83). There was a different version of the theme each season it was on the air- the first two were "rousing" and darn impressive- but the last one was pretty mediocre: a march that sounded "bland" and "banal" (as the series had become, and it ended in mid-season).

"YOU TAKE THE KIDS" (1990-'91)
I almost forgot how that went, but I still remember the show itself: Nell Carter's variation of "ROSEANNE"- and it was terrible (I'm almost thankful the Gulf War pre-empted the sixth and final episode).

"HILLER AND DILLER" (1997)
Even though it was sung by the great Leon Redbone, it sounded "incomplete" [by then, ABC insisted on sitcom theme songs lasting about 20 seconds or less]...and the series was itself mediocre, which is why it lasted half a season.

One of the worst themes is the ABC theme to the series "Matlock".When "Matlock"was on NBC,it had a great theme to it.The NBC theme had was real catchy. The ABC theme, however,is a lot less memorable, and,in my opinion, practically forgettable. What a differemce a change of networks make.

I always felt Alf wasn't much visually but one day I tuned out the video portion and just listened to the audio and the audio wasn't bad.

I always thought the Wonder Woman theme was annoying.

I've posted this before-One Day At A Time. Just as appealing as fingernails on a chalkboard.

I don't cringe so much at the theme song, but I do sometimes cringe at the situation and language on the show. What is the news on Angus??
