Classic TV Series '77 Sunset Strip' Being Made Into A Movie - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Warner Bros is dusting off its classic TV series 77 Sunset Strip, and turning it into a hip period feature. The film will be directed by Greg Berlanti, the Green Lantern writer who is previewing part of his new film, Life As We Know It, at ShoWest. Stephen Chin is in talks to write the script. Berlanti will produce with author A. Scott Berg and Kevin McCormick, through the latter’s Warner-based Langley Park shingle.

The series ran from 1958-1964 and personified cool, from the catchy theme song to the ruggedly handsome detectives -- played by Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith. They worked from stylish offices between La Cienega and Alta Loma. Though the address doesn’t really exist, the headquarters sat next to the Dean Martin-owned club Dino’s. The detectives' cars were retrieved by Kookie Kookson (played by Edd Byrnes), a hip valet parking attendant who became a cultural phenomenon and had every kid copying his trademark move of running a comb through his hair.

i agree that show was product of its time and you are not going to be able to get lightning in a bottle by giving it the 21st century treatment with gadets high tech cars and swearing every 10 seconds
