Whispering Smith aired on NBC in 1961. Twenty-six episodes were made but the show was canceled after only twenty episodes aired. It was a combination western/ detective show starring Audie Murphy as a police detective in Denver. It was loosely based on the real life exploits of Allan Pinkerton the first head of the United States Secret Service.

The Oregon Trail aired on NBC in 1977. Twenty episodes were filmed but only fourteen aired before it was canceled. It has been described as a cross between Wagon Train and Little House on the Prairie.

re Oregon Trail actualy was a 2 hour movie than 6 60 minute shows aired and 6 unaired 60 minute shows a total of 14 hours.
