So on the one night the Oscars decides to do a tribute to horror they fail to tribute one of horror's biggest icons. Most likely Hollywood has no clue who he is...typical.
Paul Naschy - The Spanish Lon Chaney, whose career spanned 50 years(over 90 films, wrote 40 of them) from his first film King of Kings(1960) to his final film appearance La herencia Valdemar(2010) Besides playing various horror characters, he also played a few historical figures including Ivan the Terrible, Louis XIV, and Napoleon. Most famous for his werewolf franchise(10 films) playing the lead Waldemar Daninsky. "Quite simply, it's me. The pity is I can't become a werewolf in true life. All too often I would like to. It's obvious that in the works of every man there is much of his true self. Like Waldemar, I too have been left aside and misunderstood. I have spent all my life swimming against the current." -Paul Naschy(on his character Waldemar Daninsky) Inducted into the Fangoria Hall of Fame in 2000. Paul Naschy(Jacinto Molina Álvarez ) 1934-2009 |

I wasn't surprised that he wasn't included...
I'd be more surprised if he was. |
