Ricki Lake Gets a Reality Show...er a Documentary sort of

We’ve all had bad dates. I try my best to have at least one a week. But Ricki Lake is planning something most of us have only ever dreamed of doing. The star of the original "Hairspray" movie is turning her date-from-hell experience into a reality series for the Sundance Channel, which has not committed to air the show. Ricki describes Six Weeks of Poor Judgment as a documentary series that chronicles “my six-week relationship with a real jerk I met online. It’s my life and I’m also writing a book on this. He was this charismatic and I was madly in love, but there was a lot of lies and cheating. It was crazy.”

Turns out there was also video of some nature shot on a flip cam. Uh-oh.

Ricki, who will also be seen as a journalist on next season’s Drop Dead Diva, has already started shooting her documentary, but says her dud of a date does not yet know that he’s about to be exposed.

“But he will!,” she promises. “I don’t want a lawsuit personally, so I think it’s funnier if we don’t see him image. But he’ll know.” Yes, he will. Maybe he does now!
