Entertainment Weekly said she might appear on a special "Women of Comedy" episode with former "SNL" cast members Molly Shannon, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler -- but executive producer Lorne Michaels reportedly denied that.

White's career resurgence hasn't come completely out of the blue. She did star with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in the romantic comedy "The Proposal," and was recognized with a lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild.

The surge in popularity is more due to her SAG lifetime achievement award. The Superbowl Snickers commercial added to it! Anyway, this is awesome she's gonna host!!!!!! I hope it happens this spring.

I love your enthusiasm Markway895 but the article doesn't say anything about Betty hosting SNL. It only says she will appear on the show.

And Lorne Michaels said, make no mistake about it, she IS the Host!! Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudoloph, and Rachel Draetch are returning as guests, but BETTY IS THE HOST!!!

NBC said Thursday that the 88-year-old actress will host the show May 8. "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels says he can't think of a better way to spend Mother's Day weekend than with White.

The announcement followed a campaign on Facebook urging the sketch show to make White a host. The group attracted nearly half-a-million supporters.

White, whose starring roles include "The Golden Girls," was given a lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January.
