According to Brian Ward at Shout, they had to set the release date for season 3 and the series until June 29th because they are trying to make sure they make it as flawless as possible as well as make the extras as good as they can for us.
I can wait another few weeks just to make sure they do a good job. What's a few more weeks compared to the years we have waited....right? |

I don't mind at all. It's extra time to save a bit more money.

Heck, we've made it this far!
Since this will be a "permanent record" of the show and its history, I say make it as good as they possibly can. You only get one shot at something like this. |

What do you think about Copyright stuff? Seasons 3-6 have a lot of music, especially when Wally goes to dances and things like that. The episode, "All Night Party" has several songs played by the orchestra, such as "Goodnight Ladies" from "The Music Man." (The movie came out about five months before this episode.) What about episodes like "Beaver Joins a Record Club?" Are those actual songs or just a specific music beat repeated for that episode? I think there is one tune that just plays over and over as Beaver dances! Care to elaborate here? Jack |

I've always assumed that they just made up the "hit songs" of the day that the kids used to listen to at parties and that Beaver got through the record club. I never noticed that "Goodnight Ladies" (or at least the tune) was playing, I'll have to catch that next time. I think I'll probably wait a little while before getting the series (I also have both S1 and S2). One thing I've learned about owning DVDs is that I NEVER watch them nearly as much as I imagine I will when I get them. I got the complete series of "Hogans Heroes" and "The Andy Griffith Show" almost as soon as the final season was available, but I still haven't made it through watching all of those yet, and that was a few years ago. I've learned to have more patience when it comes to buying DVD sets, figuring we've got plenty of stuff around the house that we still haven't watched yet. The one major exception is "Seinfeld", I got most seasons not too long after they came out, because I knew that they all had plenty of good extras on them and they weren't going to remake them later on with more "stuff". |

I don't think the music rights will be a problem. The music they use must come from their own catalogue. That one melody you hear all the time (e.g., the theme to "Teenage Forum" in the episode "Beaver on TV") can also be heard on other Universal/Revue programs. In "The Virginian" they play a speeded-up version in saloons. |
