Default To Move Or Not To Move - 03/06/70

A bit late as I am without a computer at the weekends at the moment...

The view from the girls room changes at the start of the episode. The wall visable with a picture and a chair against it as Greg leaves the boys room should appear in the doorway during the close up of Greg and Carol but we instead have the table and large picture that should be to the side rather than head on.

Tiger is mentioned twice but not seen though he is 'heard' howling and later it is mentioned that he is sleeping in the house.

Alice says the house doesn't have shutters but it does. In later episodes Mikes fixes a shutter and Greg paints a shutter.

Notice a boom shadow in the top right of the screen after Bobby changes channels on the tv.

Carol drags Alice away from the garage when they go to investigate the noises in the garden but the next shot shows them heading to the garage.

When the guy comes to see Mike about selling his house we get an establishing shot of Mikes blue convertable parked out from and a man without a briefcase walking up the drive. It is suggested by the editing that the man is the guy that comes to speak to Mike about the house but he has a breifcase. I think this is one of the rarest establishing shots in TBB as a whole.

A scene in Alices room suggests she has a closet where the fourth wall is or perhaps it is a door leading to the 'room' behind the bottom of the stairs.

The view outside Alices room has changed again. It is now just a flat wall with a picture. No laundry items at all.

I wonder how the show would have been different if they moved. When the boys reminisce, they talked about all those times they got hurt doing daring things. We never saw any evidence of that! Bobby said they “never lived anyplace else but here.” I guess he forgot about the first house (I know, it was just the pilot).

When Carol, Alice and Greg hear the first howl at night, the clock shows around 1:12!

Check out Carol’s outfit with the powder blue top and scarf. She changes in and out of it during the episode.

We see a rare 4th wall in the boys’ room by Greg’s bed when all the kids are gathered to make a plan.

The diploma on Mike’s wall is from Norton College. Norton is accurate, but the name on the diploma shows a long middle name. Mike has a short first name: Michael Paul Brady.

It seems every time Carol or Alice make a salad, it’s iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and celery!

When Cindy and Bobby are caught being ghosts, Carol basically just stands there while Mike does all the talking and reprimanding. Carol doesn’t even mention “her good sheets” like she did later in “Fright Night.”

I think you’re right, Bachu. This is probably the only time we see someone walking up to the Brady house. The only thing is, if that’s Mike’s car in front of the house, how did Burt get there? I guess he walked. And he must have changed his suit on the porch because it is brown when he approaches the house, but bluish-grey when he enters the house!

As it was only the first season I suppose the show wasn't that iconic by that point and could have survived a set change. I am glad they didn't though. You can tell by how big it was that they thought that most stories would be set at home.
