Crazy TV Station Sued for taking too many Commercial Breaks

The Swedish Broadcasting Commission (SBC) recently filed a suit against the TV4 network for taking commercial breaks during the most thrilling moments of "Leon (The Professional)" and "Clear and Present Danger." The suit said that this action violated the "integrity and the value" of the films.

The court has ruled in favor of SBC, but TV4 successfully appealed, claiming that the film's local distributors had allowed the breaks. The case was then taken to the Supreme Administrative Court which sided with SBC.

The channel has a history of controversy regarding commercial breaks. The most infamous is the break made in the middle of the rape scene in "Deliverance." It's so bad, that some filmmakers refuse to have their movies shown on the network.

Something like that should happen here too. One of the many reasons why I refuse to have cable. Way too many commericals, and to make room for more commercials they take out parts of the program.

I get so frustrated when I listen to the radio. I have to flip around for good music and it seems like 4 or 5 stations are playing commercials at exactly the same time. Needless to say, I am popping CD's in my car more.

Default Just My Opinion

It is very frustrating when you are watching a sitcom, drama, movie, etc. and a network keeps interrupting with commericals. At the risk of being clobbered, I have noticed that ABC has a bad habit of having numerous commericals during both 30 minute shows and 60 minute shows. I realize some people love that network, so this isn't meant as a shot at them or anything. I have actually timed it before and there are times when there are only 5 minutes (yes only 5 minutes) in between sets of commericals. That happens more than once. I know that the network has to make money, but commericals that often, IMO, is ridiculous.

Not to mention all those annoying "pop-up" ads they show during the actual programs.
