Ron Howard is the Glue that Keeps the Happy Days Gang...Happy - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

This past week, 'The Today Show' featured reunions of some of our favorite television families such as 'Eight is Enough' and 'The Partridge Family,' though, without two of the biggest stars from each respective show -- Adam Rich and Susan Dey. A planned 'The Brady Bunch' reunion was scrapped all together because of a supposed conflict between Eve Plumb and Maureen McCormick. Are there any past successful sitcom families that can still actually stand the sight of each other today? The easy answer: Well ... not really.

Ron Howard is the exception that proves the rule. If a show has a breakout star that finds greater success (cough, David Caruso on "NYPD Blue," cough) while later disassociating himself from the show, this inevitably will cause tension with the cast members left behind. It's rare for that big star to still acknowledge his roots; Howard is the glue that keeps the cast close still today. To a lesser degree this is the case for Henry Winkler, too. In other words: How could Erin Moran pull a McCormick/Plumb when an Oscar winning director is at the reunion sitting right next to Potsie.

I like that Ron Howard has never turned his back on either Happy Days or The Andy Griffith Show.

Me, too. Plus Anson Williams and Don Most were actually groomsmen in Ron Howard's real-life wedding. How cool is that?

That is cool. That reminds me of how Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari still being friends to this day. And when Hanks made his movie That Thing You Do, Peter had a part in it.

That's right, and I think Tom also gave Peter a part in Polar Express.

I remember seeing Ron on Larry King maybe 7 -8 yrs ago now, and he told a story of how he checked into a hotel and the desk clerk told him 'Oh your 'Dad's here too. Ron asks him Which one? (Andy or Tom) It was Tom so Ron saw Tom. Then later that night Ron's waiting for the elevator, the doors open and who's standing there, Anson Williams!
Ron said the best part was the next day. He said all three of them got together for lunch and watching all the heads turn, double takes, and looks they got as the three of them walked around the hotel grounds together was so much fun.

Why can't all the pop icons just embrace their place in pop culture history and have fun with it like Ron.

Ron, Henry and Tom Hanks are good people. can just tell. Its not BS with them. The same goes with the rest of the HD cast I met in Milwaukee for the statue unveiling.

Exactly. I know that Ron Howard was on location directing a movie (I don't remember which one) and couldn't attend the unveiling. But he did a video congratulating Henry and it was shown at the ceremony. I'm sure he would've been there in person had it not been for his prior commitment.

That reminds me, I recall a few years ago seeing behind the scenes of Ron Howard directing a movie, and Winkler was there just hanging out with him.
