SAW

I never wanted to see any of the SAW films, because they seemed like they would be like all the rest of the modern day horror films, a lot of gore and very little story. However my friend Melissa, who runs both a SAW website and a Shawnee Smith website, talked me into watching the first film and I was hooked. Even though the movie is really violent, there is actually very little gore, the character development is really good and the plot is very cleaver with lots of interesting twists and turns. Tobin Smith and Shawnee are both really good as Jigsaw and Amanda. I'm now up through the fourth film, the third being my favorite so far, and now Melissa and I are writing an article on the series.

I used to love the Saw franchise until they drove it into the ground. The first two are my favorites. I enjoyed the third, but not on the same level. I saw part of the fourth, but turned it off because I was so bored. I don't really have an interest in the rest.

The original was excellent.

Two and three were pretty good.

Four is when the series started to tank.

lol ditto, but the Saw movies always seemed way too nasty for me, and I've avoided watching the Hostel movies for exactly the same reason... At least a lot of 80s horror films had a (macabre) sense of humour, so they were hard to take seriously, and you could laugh during them, without feeling uncomfortable, but these don't seem to at all, and just strike me as way too nasty and cruel to watch...

Good point, most of the gory films of the 80's I love are horror-comedy or "so bad they're good" cheese...though there are the non-humorous ones like Maniac, Antropophagus, Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal ferox, New York Ripper. and Evil Dead Trap(Shiryô no wana) that have no comedic moments...and content-wise I think they make Saw and Hostel look like Disney(though I do enjoy Saw and Hostel)

Not at all, I laughed at the SAW and Hostel movies.

I don't know if you saw it or not but in The Devil's Rejects when Brian Posehn gets shot point-blank in the head my date and I were the only ones in the theater laughing.

I laugh at stuff like this.

Ya my favourites are the first 2.... In my opinion it could have ended perfectly with 2..... It ended in the same exact bathroom!!

Im glad they put the first 2 on VHS or I might not have seen them........ I have seen 3 and 4 online.... 5 kept breaking up so I didnt really see it and I havent seen anything else so I guess 4 is the last I have seen.......
