Born 87 years ago in New York, Sandy Kenyon passed away peacefully at his home on February 20, 2010. After serving as a pilot in the Army Air Corp in WWII, Sandy moved back to New York to pursue his career in acting, finally moving to Los Angeles in the 1950's. Sandy will always be remembered for his passion as an actor and director. He will live on forever in the memories of his family and friends, his theater company and the hundreds of movies, television programs and stage plays he was a part of. Sandy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Charlotte Blaugrund Kenyon. He is survived by his step-daughter, Janie Short and her children, Ben & Lindsey of Fort Smith, AR., and his step-son Stewart Given and his wife, Susan Levitt Given of Santa Monica. Memorial services will be a family gathering at sea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to his theater company, Interact Theatre Company, P.O. Box 349, North Hollywood, CA 91603. |

It would have been nice if there was a picture or a mention of some of the movies/shows he had appeared in.

IMDB stats look like he had pretty much retired from acting 20 years ago, but he did play Alan Brady's butler in the Dick Van Dyke Show reunion in 2004.
The only Director credit listed is a two-part episode of One Day At A Time ; that might be incomplete to say the least. |

...appeared in several episodes of "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" (among them, "The Odyssey of Flight 33" and "The Shelter", in 1961), and as the cynical cop in the 1965 "DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" episode "You're Under Arrest", who refused to believe Rob fell asleep at a drive-in while watching "The Guns Of Navarone". Kenyon was a dependable character actor with a memorable face. Very few actors had the "durability" he had....

He also played an army doctor in an episode of "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" where Rob was telling about when he and Laura got married. (I forget the name of the episode, but I'm preety sure it was in season 2)

I meant to say "The Attempted Marriage"; I was thinking of a similar title from a 1961 "Zorro" episode of "WALT DISNEY PRESENTS". My mistake!
In any case, Sandy was one of those few actors who made multiple guest appearances on the show. Allan Melvin probably held the record with seven appearances [four as "Sol Pomeroy", in flashback episodes]. Now both of them are gone....

Let me clarify my last statement: when I said Sandy was "one of those few actors who made multiple guest apperances", I meant, credited in a prominent guest-starring role. Frank Adamo was Dick's stand-in and personal assistant; most of his 44 appearances on the show were uncredited bit roles, usually in the background (often as a party guest or airplane passenger). His "major" guest appearances, when credited, often consisted of a few lines [telegram deliverer, Off-Broadway actor, etc.].
