Default Seymour

I loved this show and Seymour just cracks me up everytime I see him in an episode. The other day I watched the episode Quiet Evening where Mr. Wilson ends up babysitting Dennis, Seymour, and Margaret. I was laughing so hard I had tears when they were fighting about what to play and Dennis wanted to play spaceship and go to the moon. Seymour says "I can't go, I'm not allowed to cross the street" Mr. Wilson "Not allowed to cross the street? Oh good heavens?"

Later Seymour is hungry and raids the refrigerator instead of looking for everyone that was hiding in hide and seek and then takes Mr. Wilson's rare dime uptown to the candy machine to buy something. Later Mr. Wilson gets arrested by the police who thinks he's a candy machine burglar. The episode was a riot.

Does anyone know anything about Robert John Pittman who played Seymour? I just wonder what he did later in life and where he is today.

According to Jeanne Russell (Margaret) He died away several years ago. He was supposedly living in Hawaii at the time but had no other details. I asked about RJP when I wrote to her about the death of Billy Booth. (Tommy) She confirmed his passing and told me that she and Gloria Henry attended his memorial service and that Jay called in. Even though Billy's death has been confirmed, I can't find anything about RJP. Ms. Russell is very nice and I certainly don't want to dispute her but I have some doubts about his no longer being with us.

Thanks for the reply. I wrote her myself yesterday and she said she thought he'd been gone for 20 years or so. That would mean he passed away in his 30s...if so, I wonder what happened. I wish we could find something more on him.

It would be nice if they ever released the series on DVD, if they reunited Jay North, Jeanne Russell, and RJP on a talk show. I keep hoping they will release it.

This is the info I found on Billy Booth:

I ran across this information on an "Andy Griffith Show" website.

We're saddened by news getting to us just this month that Billy Booth, who played Roger, one of Ollie and Nora's sons in "Family Visit" (Episode #130), died of liver complications on Dec. 31, 2006, at the age of 54. He would have been 55 on the 3rd of this month. Billy Booth was best known for playing Tommy Anderson, best friend of Dennis Mitchell, in TV's "Dennis the Menace from 1959-62.

I noticed that Robert John Pittman was in the episode "Dennis Goes to Camp" which aired on February 26, 1961. They didn't call him Seymour in the episode (or any name that I recall) and in the ending credits it says Robert Pittman as Rikki. Apparently this was before the Seymour character became part of the recurring cast.

It's a mystery! I haven't been able to find anything on Robert John Pittman either, not even a photo! His last acting credit was in 1982 but that may not mean anything regarding whether he's dead or alive.
