I was wondering about this for awhile. Even when I was younger watching Mister Ed, knowing about horses the way I do, I was surprised that Mister Ed- a gelding would be interested in fillies. I suppose it could be in an emotional way. I realize this is just a tv show, but is the audience supposed to be under the impression that Mister Ed is still a stallion?
If so, it would be a little unrealistic. Although, Ive ridden a stallion before and they can be quite well behaved. Just a little food for thought |

Are you sure Mister Ed is a gelding? I remember him talking to Wilbur about his desire to be a father. And that wouldn't be possible if Ed was a gelding. (unless horses adopt!)

I guess the show never actually addresses if he is a gelding or not. While Bamboo Forrester was obviously a gelding. But of course, it doesnt have to be an obvious thing for the story line.

Maybe it would help some if you would say what a gelding and a fillie are; for those of us (like me) who don't know horse termonoligy.

But also, a filly is a young female horse usually under the age of 4. Then she is a mare. Also, Mister Ed says when he was a pony- to refer to his childhood. But atually Ponies are ponies and stay that way- they are never horses. A young male horse under 4 is a colt. But I dont let it bother me. I realize its just a tv show.
