So what is the full story on Susan Dey? She's never participated in any kind of PF reunion. Matt Lauer brought her up. David and Danny didn't really have much to say about her never participating, though Danny pretty much expressed a desire to see her again.
I know she was struggling with some issues back then including having romantic feelings for Cassidy, but you would think after all these years she would have gotten over it! |

^ Especially since she's been married for over 20 years! She's pretty much dropped out of sight. Apparently, she's not in touch with ANY of her former Partridge co-stars (and hasn't been for years) and the last acting credit I can find for her was Third Watch back in 2004. She makes Eve Plumb look like a chatterbox!!

At least she is consistant, Susan has been the butt of jokes from Bonaduce for years since he did stand-up comedy.....Danny and Brian did both say on the "today show" that they were attracted to her during her partridge days, but it has been well documented that when danny peaked through the window of her dressing area and saw her naked, even as a child, he thought she was bone-thin, called her orange because all she ate was carrots. Through two partridge tv movies, and davids book, it is well known that susan had a wild crush on david then and he possibily threw her some "sympathy sex" once......she has always been embarrassed by the series, but the cast hasn't helped either..... she did partipate in the very rare 1977 ABC partridge family/my three sons thanksgiving reunion special (I know what a combination, I have a poor copy) ...she was once considered an established actress with LA Law, but shortly after her partridge days she did a brief nude scene in a cheap movie, again had a eating disorder and the pain of teenage memories for some never goes away and she I'm sure just has no desire to revisit that part of her past ever......some go to every high school reunion and some never go to any...........

Just watched the clip on nbc.com.
Impressions. Danny still obviously looks up to David (his comment about David outselling the Beatles sealed it for me), and though I know there's not a ton of love for David here, he seems to genuinely like Danny, too. I do wish that Brian and Tracy would have talked a little more about what it was like to be the youngest of the group (they were about my age, or a little older, so I'm interested!) but it kind of makes sense that the group fell into the old habit of letting the eldest (and most talkative) members speak more. I would have loved to have seen Ms. Jones (and Dave Madden) with the group. From all I've read it seems like she really did consider the kids kind of her surrogate family and I bet there would have been some "awww" moments. ![]() As far as Susan Dey goes, it almost seems like there's stuff going on beyond her not joining in on previous reunions. I think Danny's reaction is, as others have said, typically Danny, but when even Tracy chimed in with her chlly "Susan who?", it made me think there must be other incidents that caused the hostility. Maybe Tracy and Danny both feel kind of 'betrayed' by the 'older sibling' ignoring them, who knows? Anyway, I really did like the interview. I can always do without Matt Lauer and his smarminess, but it was great to see everyone again.

Danny was wrong about "Let It Be". Not only did it hit #1, it was on the charts *before* "I Think I Love You" (which also would top the pop charts). "Let It Be" was #1 for two weeks in April of 1970, and "I Think I Love You" was #1 for three weeks, beginning in mid-November of 1970.

It think the scene in David's book was tasteless. He said something on the reunion show that he did love her and to try and get in touch. I think for the most part she was living with someone else when she was on the show. THere are so many Partridge Family stories. They were all in different age groups. Is Danny at 10 really hanging out with 20 year old David (doing groupies and drinking beer)? Was Danny really hanging out with 6 year old Tracy. Maybe she is taking the high road. Danny said he wouldn't up if his radio station, WYSP94.1 in Philadelphia, didn't want him to do it. |

The National Enquirer Site just posted a pretty interesting article about Susan Dey.
http://www.nationalenquirer.com/susa...elebrity/68263 SUSAN DEY SECRETS Wonder why former Partridge Family star Susan Dey avoids those ratings-driven TV reunions like the plague? WONDER NO MORE. Susan, who was born in 1952, hailed from the New York City suburb of Bedford and began modeling at age 17 before landing her first acting gig on The Partridge Family which ran from 1970-74. In the 1980s, Dey was critically admired for her role on the hit series LA Law, garnering a Golden Globe in 1987 and was then nominated four more times. The Emmy's also honored Susan with three statues for her role as lawyer Grace Van Owen. Susan then starred in the series Love & War (92-93). In 1993, The ENQUIRER, in a candid exclusive interview with Susan. first revealed her secret - the beauty had been battling anorexia for nearly half her life! "I'm not in the clear yet - I'm still trying to overcome my anorexia," Susan admitted in the exclusive November 1, 1993 interview. "It's something that has been plaguing my life." The 5-foot-7 star who had one time wasted away to 90 pounds at the height of her illness, weighed a healthy 120 pounds, at the time of the interview, and felt great! Susan - who won a years-long struggle against in alcoholism in 1987 - was going to AA meetings three times a week in 1993 and was also being counseled for her eating disorder. "Beating a severe eating disorder is something you can not do alone," she told The ENQUIRER. Susan was on The Partridge Family when she first developed the life-threatening eating disorder. As the ailment progressed, it made her life a living hell. And her problems doubled when Susan began boozing to cope with the stress of being the prefect teen ideal that appeared on hundreds of magazine covers. In Susan's mind, she was far from prefect, suffering from low-self-esteem. But she found new happiness when she married second husband TV producer Bernard Sofronski and with his aid Susan beat her demons. "It also helps when you have lots of support at home - which I do," Susan said. "My husband has been terrific! With him backing me all the way, I'm never alone." Therapists often advise: In recovery, why revisit the traumas that triggered self-destruction in the first place? And while Susan may avoid a Patridge remembrance of things past, the still-stunning 57-year-old serves as a board member of the Rape Treatment Center at UCLA Medical Center helping others |

It makes perfect sense that Susan wouldn't want to relive the part of her life when she developed an eating disorder and then became an alcoholic. Now that I know this I'm glad she hasn't taken part in any reunions. It really is for the best.

I didn't realize the whole story either. Now its in perspective. Its great she's a survivor, and seems to have had a stable life in more recent years. I have a new respect for her.
It is interesting that she did that parady of her character in the '90's on Saturday Night Live, when she hosted. |
