She was banned from managing the team by the MLB from 1996 through 1998 due to a series of statements sympathizing with Nazi party leader Adolf Hitler; shortly afterwards, she sold the majority of her share in the team.

That woman was a trip and a half. With no disrespect to the dead meant, the woman was only a couple of fries short of a Happy Meal!!

How many years did she own the Reds, anyway - and how did she come to own them?

She was majority owner of the Reds from 1984 -1999. She was the first woman to become owner of a major league sports franchise by purchasing it rather than by inheriting it. She was able to afford this purchase due to inheriting her late husband's fortune.

OK - thanks for clearing that up. Thank goodness she was at the complete opposite end of the state - I can only imagine what she'd do if she'd been in Cleveland!!

I think the Indians have had enough problems without her. And don't even want to think about what would have happened to them had she owned them.
