Has to be Lou for me,yes he can be cranky but his heart was in the right place.
Murray's a good guy too,Ted would get on your nerves but he is funny. |

I love all three. (Well, esp L & M)
Both Lou & Murray are sweethearts in their own ways, and Ted has a heart..... sometimes, LOL. |

I think Ted is really sweet when he bonds with Joe,when he opens the door(after leaving Mary's) and catches Joe and Mary kissing, you see a nice side to Ted.
Really didn't like him, when he was mean to Georgette. |

Murray. I loved the way he was aware of what was going on at the office and what everyone was doing. And of course he always had a smart and funny comment to make. To answer LittleRickeyII Murray's role on the show was to be a sort of Greek Chorus. He made all those smart funny comments that we as audience members were already thinking in our minds.

In terms of likeability, it's much, much easier to like Lou and Murray than it is Ted. But all of them served a very useful purpose on the show, so in that respect you really need all three.
I can't imagine the show working as well as it did with any ONE of them missing. |

I like Lou the best. Lou was very "old school". Kind of hard to explain that, but it was like a lot of men of that generation who worked a job, sent his kids through school, working a professional job he's had since he left school. The man had a bottle under his desk and martinis after work. Lou doesn't like parties and social gatherings and only goes because he cares about Mary.
Murray was OK, he was a good straight man for Ted. By himself, Murray wasn't a very happy person, he was moving up professionally and was stuck writing for that buffoon Ted. He was pretty much in the same boat Lou was in, had a family to support and responsibilities. While Lou was much more outward and forceful, Murray would usually keep his feelings bottled up. Ted was basically a cartoon character. He was funny at times, but could also be grating on the nerves. In the early season, he was a rather negative character and Ted Knight got a lot of negative mail, so much so that he wanted to quit the show but was pursuaded to stay. This is when the writers brought in Georgette. |

I'm a Ted fan. I'd probably hate him in real life, but he's a great TV character.
