Default "The Goldbergs" on DVD!

The UCLA Film & Television Archive is very proud to announce its DVD release of “The Ultimate Goldbergs!”

Often referred to as a “lost” television series, “The Goldbergs” spanned four decades on radio and television and is considered the first television sitcom. The program made writer-producer Gertrude Berg—who also starred as urban Jewish matron Molly Goldberg—the most famous woman in America, and the first woman to win an Emmy Award for acting.

This DVD set contains all 71 episodes of “The Goldbergs” still known to exist. Also included in this collection is an excerpt from Aviva Kempner’s documentary “Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg”, the pilot for Gertrude Berg’s later television show, “Mrs. G Goes to College”, and twelve episodes of “The Goldbergs” radio show which was broadcast for 17 years prior to the television show.

You and your friends can support the Archive’s television work by purchasing your own copy of the digitally-remastered DVD set here: http://www.cinema.ucla.edu/goldbergs/

It's not the first television sitcom. The first American sitcom is "Mary Kay and Johnny" which aired in 1947. The very first sitcom ever is the British series "Pinwright's Progress" which aired in 1946.

Either way I am very eager to get this release of this very overlooked, historic and thought missing series, I already pre-ordered this from Shout Factory, I do find it odd that the link takes you to another pre-order site and mentions nothing of the shout factory offering, which of course is the exact same release.

It seems to me like this is a case where UCLA is producing the DVD set and Shout! Factory is distributing it for them DTC. Similar to what they are doing with the Tales Of The Gold Monkey set produced by Fabulous Films but distributed by Shout! Factory.
