Lol John Ritter's painful cut from Conan O'Brien (2/27/97)

This is hilarious!! This comes in at the 7:55 mark - the bit right before features Abe Vigoda. Two ABC legends!!

I couldn't find it (but I did watch it when it was originally on). Henry Winkler and Tom Selleck, among others, also did that bit.

I have it on tape somewhere, but here is the text of it:

http://web.archive.org/web/200502231...s/ritter.shtml

John also did a hilarious video for Conan back in 2001 when no one was coming to NYC after the 9/11 attacks. And of course John's appearance on Conan's show in 2003 was hilarious, especially the cooking segment with him, Dana Carvey and Ted Nugent!

Cool

I loved the bit with Abe doing the whole show by himself!! As for John Ritter...the first cut is the deepest!

It was hysterical! John and Dana were the normal guests and they joined Conan and Ted for the cooking segment at the end (so much better than the normal musical guest at the end). John put an onion down his pants!

That sounds hilarious. See, that's the main reason why I think Conan was much better off in NYC on Late Night. His humor is so sick and subversive that he really had to water it down for the Tonight Show. Of course, I love all the bits that Conan did with Abe Vigoda, Celebrity Secrets, Driving the Desk and Tamari (sp?) the Ostrich. Now they are all property of NBC (well, maybe with the exception of Abe) and Conan can't use them anymore.

That's my favorite episode of Late Night. I used to have that on tape, but unfortunately I lost it. It was hilarious!!

That was the episode where John said to Conan about the Nick at Nite situation, them airing both versions of the "Three's Company" episode, because "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't." LOL

Glad I'm not the only one who remembers that episode.

Yeah, Conan was better in New York for those reasons. I wonder if he'll move back or just stay put. I don't see why he had to move to L.A. for The Tonight Show.

I know - I loved the East Coast feel of the show. Johnny Carson taped the Tonight Show in NYC for quite a few years before moving the whole operation out to LA. I think Conan and the rest should've just stayed in NYC.

Adam - if you haven't done so already, check out the birthday thread for Abe Vigoda on the Barney Miller board. I found quite a few clips of him on Conan that have to be seen to be believed - especially his day in Coney Island with Andy!!
