Amanda Knox's (who was recently sentenced to 26 years for murder) parents were on Oprah tonight. Amanda and her family live about five minutes from my house and a lot of my friends know her and her family. Her mom and aunt come into shop at my work a lot. It's so weird. Anybody on here watched it or have heard about this case? |

Oh I've definitely heard about it! It's impossible to be living in Seattle and not hear about it! Wow, that's kind of surreal that your friends and family know her. What an ordeal she's been through. It's funny because I had actually forgotten about it until you mentioned it. Hard to believe since it got so much publicity not that long ago!

We have seen such situation of false convictions many time here in the USA. The recent case in Chicago of the cop convicted of having perpetrated so many false confession with which he gained convictions. And the case of the Texas DNA lab tech who rose so high in the system by giving the police the fake lab results they wanted to hear and to believe, and thus giving them the false convictions they (the police) were after. Sometime promotions are based on “Merit”, (i.e. productivity) which in these cases mean getting the most convictions. Getting FALSE convictions gives a prosecutor that extra competative edge in climbing the career ladder sometimes. Too bad about all of the qualified and conciencious law enforcement people who were bypassed for promotions in Chicago and in Texas in favor of the narcisistic sociopaths in suits..
