Default Fox Reality Channel RIP: 5/05-3/31/10

On March 31, 2010 Fox Reality Channel will go off the air and change directions to National Geographic type programming. Funny since there is already a National Geographic Channel called Nat Geo.

Speak for yourself, I'm a fan of certain reality shows.

I've never understood why some people hate the genre sight unseen. The potential is there for some really interesting stuff, it just hasn't been "tapped" well imo.

I agree, I hope this is a sign of things to come. Reality shows don't have staying power to repeat forever like sitcoms and dramas

I did like Fox Reality Channel because they used to show the seasons of Last Comic Standing.

Default I believe the handwriting was on the wall....

...several years ago when Game Show Network bought repeats of earlier seasons of "THE AMAZING RACE", and tried scheduling them late at night (replacing their "Late Night Black & White" classic game show block). It didn't work, and the repeats eventually disappeared, with other "classic" game shows replacing it.

Trying to program an entire cable network full of reality shows is also a mistake, because most of them DO tend to get "stale" in repeats. If Fox is losing money because of it, naturally they'll try something else to replace it. But what does that mean for News Corp. as a whole...?
