I had the pleasure of talking to Al on the phone once, back in the mid 70's. What a nice guy he was. And I'm sure, still is.

Here's hoping his health improves.

Awesome! How did you end up talking with him on the phone?

My grandma (who passed in 1995) and I always enjoyed Al in those On-Cor frozen food commercials. We'd always say to each other, "We'll be at your house at 6 tomorrow!"

Al was a celebrity guest/worker at a local MDA telethon here in Illinois. The phones lines were open, and when I called to place my donation, I asked if I might say "hello" to him. (This was a common practice).

I also spoke to Harvey Vernon, who played "Jasper" on the old "Carter Country" show. He was really nice, too!
