Question Advent calendars

How come noone's mentioned their advent calendars yet? I've got a Rugrats one.
I'm not really that into Christmas but I always get an Advent calendar each year cos I reckon the chocolate in 'em is great! You can't get chocolate quite like that anywhere but in an advent calander! :

What????!!!
Don't you have advent calanders in the States?? It must be the only thing you guys don't have!
Advent calanders have 25 little doors representing the 25 days leading up to Christmas. Each of the doors are numbered - on 1st December you open door 1 and so on - and behind each door is a piece of chocolate and a wee picture. In some instances (in more expensive calanders) you even get a wee toy behind the doors. Most of 'em just have chocolate in them though. The one I've got this year has a picture of all the Rugrats building a snowman on the front.
C'mon - you must have these in America - or at least something like that?!!

Yes, we have them here. Their just not as popular over here as they are in Europe and Canada. You have to kind of look around for them. When I was in Germany I was introduced to quite a few cool things like Nutella and Kinderschokolade. To get that stuff here I have to drive way out of my way to an import store. Yuoare right though, the chocolate in those advent calendars is really good.

Mmmmmm, I love Nutella!! I get big jars of the stuff to spread on my sandwiches that I take to work!
When I was still in school, this ice cream van used to drive into the grounds each lunchtime and they'd sell these little tiny tubs of Nutella for about 10 pence and they'd give you a tiny wee spoon to eat it with. Those were the days....
Do you have Kinder Eggs in America?

Kinder eggs are also rare in the US. Gotta go to the import store for those too. I live pretty close to the Canadian border so whenever I'm over there I look for all that stuff. We do have Cadbury eggs though, but I don't care for those too much. I also loved the Smarties they had in Europe. Way better than M&Ms.

Don't worry about it. I had a friend whose mother gave her an advent calander on the 29th of November. She had opened all the doors and eaten all the chocolate by 30th of November!!! Try THAT for greedy!

I haven't had a chocolate-filled advent calendar in a long time. Instead, I have a reusable advent calendar. There are little doors across the bottom that each have a tiny ornament in them. Each day, you open a door and hang the ornament on a little Christmas tree. As Christmas approaches, the tree gets decorated with all the little ornaments. After Christmas you put all the ornaments back in the doors and store it until the next year.

My German teacher sends them out to all of her students and there used to be a calander shop in Lincoln that had them and my aunt would always by one for me and my brother but they don't have them anymore. I have to agree the chocolate in those calanders are the best. Here's a pic of a 3-d advent calander
