Default Question about being labeled a bad trader??

I got into DVD trading a few years back. I got in head over heels and slipped up and didn't ship a few DVD's.. (2 trades adding up to less than 15 DVD's). I was just wondering if there was any way of redeeming yourself in the community. The board I made these trades on no longer accepts registrations. So I have no way of getting back to the guys I done wrong.

If I decide to trade in the future I want to be straight forward.. And do not want the possiblity of a trader check to haunt me.

Just volunteer to send first for a while. Also, try to make good on the bad trades you had. I can't guarantee this will work, but it would be a good first step.

Have you tried Googling the handle/username you had back then to see if there is any "bad press" about you?

Not trying to justify what you did, but 4 years is a long time in the trading world. A lot of people come and go from this hobby. Those traders may not even be around or involved in trading anymore. If you can't get in touch with them to rectify the situation (which is really the first thing you should do, but it sounds like you have tried), I would just consider it a lesson learned and move on.

Like someone else said, just offer to send first for awhile. Once you've got a few good trades under your belt, you'll be fine. You may also ask those who you have traded with successfully if you can use them as "references".

I think this will turn out okay though.

Some things to keep in mind.

1- as you were frank here, be frank in future postings- dont' let someone figure out who you are, be upfront-
you may not be able to rectify things in the past, but if your honest from the beginning people are more likely to accept your changes, than when they find out and feel its a secret-

2- a suggested, offer to end first- don't put yourself at risk, and offer to send 100 discs to someone who has no feedback, but when setting up new trades, be willing to prove yourself for a few trades, which is a suggestion to most new traders, when trading with veteran traders

and 3 go the extra mile for the pennies it costs- use tracking, so that when you do trade, if there is a mishap, its preventable or provable- since some people have gotten burned- the 50 cents, is really worth it- trust me.

Other than that- being honest, is your best bet- open communication.
As far as the old site, not accepting registrations- if you get involved into the community again, chances are you will come across users who might be able to recommend your registration to the owner- or keep you in mind if registration opens.

The basic idea, don't let skeletons in your closet come tumbling out, just be open and upfront as you were in your post.

There was just a situation here, with a trader who had bad trades, and although has an account already, set up a new one, new name, new email address- and when 2 + 2 added up, he looks worse for it-
People in the community are open minded and forgiving, if your open and honest with them under normal circumstances.

Just s a few tips from an old trader, if any of it is helpful
