-- They have placed an emphasis on drawing young stars like Taylor Lautner and Channing Tatum, hoping that translates to a younger viewing audience. But at the same time they're torn about how to keep storied stars in the mix. I'm told they decided at first to abandon last year’s innovation of having 5 former winners of all ages introduce the Best Actor and Best Actress categories. But that now they are leaning toward keeping what I thought was a very classy innovation by Bill Condon and Laurence Mark.

I totally get that they want to bring in a younger audience, but to do it at the expense of "Classic" Hollywood is blasphemous. Besides, older people are the ones who really watch awards shows anyway.

The Acadamy Awards are all about tradition. And it would be wrong to dishonor that tradition by dishonoring actors and actresses over 30.

Actually, Im 16 and me and my friends would be thrilled to see either Jack Nicholson or Clint Eastwood or Mary Tyler Moore. Sure, we love to stare at Taylor Lautner, but really, get rid of Jack Nicholson? Just because the people I mentioned up above were in older shows or movies does not mean that they're bad.

Me and my best friend try to find a show that we haven't watched yet from either the seventies or the eighties everytime we have a sleep over and enjoy those twice as much as we would watching something like The OC or One Tree Hill.

Yeah I don't need Twilight stars force fed to me just to serve a certain demographic. Why does everyone assume that all kids want to see are OTHER kids?

Back in the Hyborean Age when I was young, of course I liked to see Kristy McNichol or Jodie Foster or Johnny Whittaker in something, but I loved seeing Johnny Carson or Bob Hope or Milton Berle, too. Maybe kids are different today; maybe the pace of life makes anything (and anyone) that happened before yesterday obsolete.

But it would be nice if they'd at least expose the kids to older stars, and incorporate the younger ones gradually, as you mentioned.

I'm the dork that tapes the Oscar ceremonies every year. (Uh-huh, you read that right - EVERY YEAR). I have every ceremony from 1996 up through 2009, with 2010 ready to go. And you know what? I live for the chance to see the legends of old Hollywood. Remember the 70th anniversary when they brought up 70 past winners? That was SOOOOOOO cool! Sadly, a lot of them are no longer around. (We just lost Karl Malden and Jennifer Jones last year.) Let's celebrate these legends while we still have them. The teen stars of our time will have their chance if they survive the test of time.
