Lionsgate has decided that the "Season of the Witch" won't be in March, pulling the Nicolas Cage starrer out of its March 19 release date -- only five weeks before its planned opening.
The minimajor hasn't yet set a new launch date for "Witch," which also stars Ron Perlman, Ulrich Thomsen, Stephen Campbell Moore, Stephen Graham and newcomer Claire Foy. "We're looking for the best release date," said a spokeswoman on Friday. Lionsgate's decision to vacate the date leaves a quartet of wide openers on March 19 -- Fox's family comedy "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," Universal's sci-fier "Repo Man," starring Jude law and Forest Whitaker; Sony's comedy "The Bounty Hunter," starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler; and Apparition's "The Runaways." "Season of the Witch," directed by Dominic Sena from Bragi Schut's script, centers on 14th Century knights transporting a girl suspected of being the witch who has spread the Black Plague. Producers are Chuck Roven and Alex Gartner; production comapnies include Roven's Atlas Entertainment, and Relativity Media. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111...goryid=13&cs=1 |

Um, sorry, what's the big deal? Movies get their releases pushed back all the time, it happens. And I don't feel sorry for Nic. This guy's been given everything - everything! He's a Coppola. He's won an Oscar. And he's made a lot of terrible movies (Wicker Man, anyone?) His financial problems are his own dang fault. I wouldn't go see a new Nicolas Cage movie if he paid me to.

All actors have a few duds in their resume. Nic's been in enough hits to balance it out. I think he's a terrific actor, and I've seen most of his movies. If I didn't like the movie, it was for other reasons, but never because of his performance. He didn't cash in on his Copolla name, and chose Cage as his screen name. Not many people would do that.

btw, that famous "bee scene" did not make the final cut as it was an alt. ending on the DVD release. |

Nobody gave him anything. He's one of the hardest workers in Hollywood.

If I was just a casual movie goer ,I'd never know he was a Coppola. Lots of Hollywood stars open the doors for their kids or family. Do you think Henry Fonda never opened any doors for Jane or Peter? It's the public who decides if any of these people have talent. The ones that do last in this business and the ones that don't just disappear. Nicholas Cage must have some fans as he's had a long movie career. Sure he's had some bombs. Most stars do at one time or another. Look at John Travolta. I'm not a big Nicholas Cage fan. I liked a few of his movies but regardless, he's had a pretty good career. And don't forget he's also won an Oscar. Not too many stars can say that.
